FAQ
-
What type of material should I choose?
We offer several types of materials. For metal options, we have marine-grade aluminum, stainless steel, and corten steel. Wood options are thermally modified ash and recycled HDPE lumber. The type of material you should choose may depend on your weight, budget, and customization needs.
Weight
If you are leaning towards aluminum, there are ways to keep the weight of aluminum down. We have Ez-Fill-ter bags. They are bags filled with non-biodegradable foam that is used to fill the void of planters. This makes it so that you don’t have to fill the entire planter with soil, making it easier to use for decks or weight-restricted areas.
Budget
If you are on a tight budget, our Stock line is the way to go. They are durable, high-quality aluminum planters for the competitive price of fiberglass.

Can I customize my site furnisings?
Yes! Many of our site furnishing products can be customized to meet specific requirements. Customization options may include selecting specific materials, colors, finishes, adding logos or engravings, or even creating entirely unique designs. Contact our sales team for more information on customization options.

Can I customize my planter?
Yes! We specialize in custom projects, so whether you have a sloped ground, a tight corner, or specific seating requirements, we will custom tailor any planters or site furnishings to perfectly fit your needs. All products can be further customized with our endless powder-coat color options. If you need a specific color, send us an RAL number.
-
How do I choose the right site furnishings for my project?
When choosing site furnishings, consider factors such as the intended purpose, location, climate conditions, maintenance requirements, budget, and design aesthetics. It’s also important to ensure compliance with local regulations and accessibility standards.
After you’ve considered all these aspects, it’s up to taste and personal preference. Although many of our suites are a complete collection, don’t be afraid to mix and match. A bench from here, and receptacle from there. We can typically use powder-coating colors to help unify pieces from different suites so your project still feels cohesive.
-
Do I need drainage holes in my planters?
Drainage holes are necessary if you are using the planter outdoors. If you’re using a planter indoors, we highly suggest to use a sub-irrigation unit to keep your planter tidy.
-
What is the best way to water the plants? Is there a self-watering option?
We suggest using a self-watering system. Our Ollie sub-irrigation allows you to have to only water your plants once every 6 weeks!
-
What is a top lip and return for?
A top lip gives your planter strength and rigidity, allowing for a longer lasting planter. A return will give the planter even more strength, but sometimes is unnecessary depending on the size.
We are also able to create metal planters without a top lip and return, though limited in size.
-
Are your site furnishings environmentally friendly?
Yes, all of Green Theory’s products are designed with environmental considerations in mind. Our products are made with recycled materials, and eco-friendly manufacturing processes, all of which can be easily recycled at the end of their lifespan. These choices contribute to sustainability and reduce the impact on the environment.

What kind of planter is best for trees?
We suggest planters that are wide and are tall to allow the roots of the tree to spread around and also to give enough space to hold up the tree. If the planter lays on soil, we can create a custom bottomless planter so that the roots can continue to grow deeper.
