Vancouver Bench
“Encouraging curiosity and discovery, the Vancouver Bench is a semi transparent volume that showcases rugged and natural elements within”
As part of this year’s IDS Vancouver our design team collaborated with Laura Melling and Alyssa Lewis (LM Studio / Studio Block) to create the Vancouver Bench as an intrinsic piece of the duo’s installation "Wonderment" which was on view in Vancouver from October 1-8 2020.

The Vancouver Bench is a stand alone outdoor seating piece inspired by our home city and reflects the city of Vancouver in a multi-functional way; aesthetically hinting at a transparent and sophisticated cultural fabric while simultaneously producing a sitting surface that is perfectly fit for Vancouver’s notorious seasonal weather.

We were interested in using perforation for a sitting surface to produce airflow, drainage and create subtle flexibility in material. The first in our line of seating named after cities, we are pleased to have collaborated with two Vancouver designers on a piece that represents our collective city.

Vancouver bench is made using 30-50% recycled .188″ aluminum and is 100% recyclable. Using marine grade materials, this powder coated form is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and is highly durable. Complete with mounting feet on both ends, the bench features two stainless steel fasteners that secure the bench to concrete anchors allowing for a quarter inch elevation.
